Jukeboxes have come a long way since 1890 when Louis Glass invented a coin operated phonograph and patented the coin operated system “Coin Actuated Attachment for Phonograph” with this system the crank handle was unlocked when the coin was inserted and then allowed the user to play music. In 1918 Hobart C. Niblack patented a system that allowed the automatic changing of records which lead to the first selective jukeboxes being introduced in 1927 by the company Automated Musical Instrument Company later known as AMI.

With advancing technology of music storage, Jukeboxes have become iconic in hotels and clubs with the changes from records 78’s then 45’s onto cd jukeboxes allowing more and more music selections.

Now we have the Digital Jukebox which is computer operated and has created the modern jukebox which has allowed the user to choose from thousands of songs.
